Spanish Colonial Manuscripts at the Benson Latin American Collection

Help the Benson Latin American Collection make Spanish colonial archives more accessible!

In collaboration with Lancaster University and Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, we are currently training Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) models to automate the transcription of Spanish colonial documents. To accomplish this, we need your help creating accurate transcriptions of a sample of these materials. To read more about the project, visit https://unlockingarchives.com/.

Here is a spreadsheet listing the sample materials and how you can help. Contributors to the collaborative transcription and translation of this document accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International Public License ("Public License"). This license lets others share, remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, as long as they credit you (through your FromThePage user name) and license their new creations under the identical terms.
