OBJECTS OF THE ASSOCIATION.
THE OBJECTS OF THIS ASSOCIATION; ARE TO UNITE IN ONE COMMON FELLOWSHIP, THE ARCHITECTS OF TEXAS; TO COMBINE THEIR EFFORTS, SO AS TO PROMOTE THE ARTISTIC, SCIENTIFIC, AND PRACTTICAL EFFICIENCY OF THE PROFESSION; AND TO CULTIVATE AND ENCOURAGE THE KINDRED ARTS; AND TO CORRECT UNPROFESSIONAL PRACTICES. ARTICLE I. THE NAME OF THIS ASSOCIATION SHALL BE 'THE TEXAS STATE ASSOCIATION OF ARCHITECTS'. ARTICLE II. THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION, SHALL CONSIST OF FELLOWS AND HONORARY MEMBERS. ARTICLE III. THE OFFICERS OF THIS ASSOCIATION, SHALL BE, A PRESIDENT; TWO VICE PRESIDENTS; SECRETARY AND TREASURER; AND FIVE TRUSTEES; THE TRUSTEES SHALL CONSTITUTE THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION SHALL BE EX-OFFICIO A MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. ARTICLE IV. THE CITY OF AUSTIN, SHALL BE THE PRINCIPAL PLACE OF BUSINESS OF SAID ASSOCIATION; BUT IN VIEW OF ITS OBJECTS AND PURPOSES, SAID ASSOCIATION MAY HOLD ITS MEETINGS AT SUCH TIMES AND PLACES AS MAY BE REGULATED BY ITS BY-LAWS. ARTICLE V. THE FOLLOWING ARE THE OFFICERS, FOR THE FIRST YEAR, AND UNTIL THEIR SUCCESSORS ARE ELECTED:

BIRMINGHAM, ALA., JAN. 10th, 1893.
The Second Annual Convention of the Southern Chapter of the American Institute of Architects was called to order January 10, 1893, at 12 o'clock M., in the parlors of the Caldwell Hotel, Birmingham, Ala., by Mr. A. C. Bruce, of Atlanta, Ga., President.
On behalf of the architects of Birmingham, an address of welcome was made by Mr. Chas. Wheelock, and also by Mr. Fox, Mayor of Birmingham, and was responded to by the President and Vice-President.
A recess was then taken.
2.30 P. M. On reassembling the roll was called and the following Fellows were in attendance upon the Convention, viz.: A. C. Bruce, Atlanta, Ga.; D. B. Woodruff, Macon, Ga.; W. S. Smith, Birmingham, Ala. T. H. Maddox, Birmingham, Ala.; D. A. Helmich, Birmingham, Ala.; Chas. Wheelock, Birmingham, Ala.; L. F. Goodrich, Augusta, Ga.; C. C. Burke, Memphis, Tenn.; E. G. Lind, Atlanta, Ga.; Jas. M. Maddox, Birmingham, Ala.; W. P. Tinsley, Lynchburg,.Va.: F. L. Rousseau, Birmingham, Ala.

It is with pleasure I meet you at this our second annual convention, and in laying down the office to which your partiality elevated me a year ago, it seems proper that I should briefly describe what we have endeav-

On motion of Mr. Preston, the secretary was instructed to cast one ballot for the first five officers in report [?] and the officers were declared elected.
The secretary was also instructed to cast one ballot for each of the

Moved by W. C. Dodson that Nat'l Tobey be invited to read a paper for the interest of the Association, motion prevailed.
Subject - Professional Practice
Fellows of the Texas State Association of Architects:
Gentlemen, two years ago at the solicitation of S. A. J. Preston of Austin, representing a committee of one, appointed by the Western Association of Architects to organize a state associaiton in Texas. I went to Austin for the purpose of assisting as far as I could in said organization.
We organized with twenty acknowledged charter members; elected officers; adopted contitution and bylaws [?]. Had a very pleasant and social meeting, and altogether a general good time, and started off with flying colors. Sometime in the early part of the following season some of our members happened to meet in Bosque County. They made a move mon the enemy and captured some territyory in what I consider a professional manner. Later in the season, some of them met in Fort Bend County, where they met the enemy again, and instead of standing shoulder to shoulder as

we now proceed with the election of officers for the ensuing year and the place of meeting and that the president appoint a committee of three members to nominate the officers.
The president appointed architects Heiner, Tobey, and Tyndall committee on nominations.
The committee reported the following members for nomination;

The report of the committee was received and the secretary was insturcted to cast one ballot for each of the officers.
On motion of E. J. Heiner the ballot was declared unanimous.
