Constantinople April 4, 1895
My dear Wife
Your letter of the 13th of April came yes-
terday and brough the comforting news that
you were alive and well. It seems that you had
not recieved a letter which must have gotten to
you a few days after. I am now reconciled
to the idea of remaining alone while all my
ideas on this subject are good. It is better than
to quit here now just about when I should have gone.
Constantly--indeed I (find a rainy climate feirce)
can do little at home, thus, I have to stay here --
so it seems to me -- For here I cannot write [???]
a business -- It is only with head tired with the
labors of the day that I can find time at night
to keep up any[my?] little correspondence -- thus I cannot
[spare?] time for other reflection so necessary to write
any thing like a book -- But I should not [?] now.
That news [from?] account of my going
home should not have decieved you, for you
