fornia
, or Mar Roxo de Cortes, in the interior of
the same, and very close upon the coast.

Carlos, San, a river of the island of Guada-
lupe
, which runs nearly due n. e. and enters the
sea in the bay of the Great Cul de Sac.

Carlos, San, a settlement (with the surname
of Real) of the province and government of Buenos
Ayres
; situate on the shore of the river La Plata,
near the colony of Sacramento, which belonged to
the Portuguese. In its vicinty, on the n. n. e. part,
there is a lake of very good sweet water.

lan
, between the mountain of the Pan de Azucar
and cape Galand of the n. coast.

vernment of Tucumán, which is very fertile in

Dutch. It rises in the sierra of Rinocote, runs
from w. to e. and gathering the waters of many
others, enters in a large body into the Mazar-
roni.

vernment of Cartagena ; situate in the district of
the mountains of Marca, between those of San Ja-
cinto and San Francisco de Asis. It is one of
those new settlements that were founded by the Go-
vemor Don Juan Pimienta in 1776.

Un valle en la Provincia y Gobierno del Tucuman, que es muy fértil en vino, trigo, maiz, algarroba, brea y mucha caza; los naturales de él fueron los que mas dieron que hacer a los Españoles en la conquista de esta Provincia.

CARMELO, Sierras del, Cordillera de montes muy altos de la Provincia de California ; corren a orilla del mar desde la sierra del Enfado hasta el Cabo de San Lucas.

CARMEN, Río] de la Provincia y Colonia de Surinam, en la parte de la Guayana que poseen los Holandeses; nace en la sierra de Rinocote, corre del O al E, y recogiendo las aguas de otros muchos entra muy caudaloso en el do Mazarroni.
Tiene el mismo nombra un Pueblo de la Provincia y Gobierno de Cartagena, situado en el Partido de las montañas de María, entre los de San Jacinto y San Francisco de Asis; es uno de los de las nuevas poblaciones que fundó el Gobernador Don Juan Pimienta el año de 1776.
Otro en el mismo Reyno, situado cerca de un arroyo y a orilla del río Tocantines, a la banda del E, no distante del arrayai de San Feliz.
